8th – 11th June 2017 – Anglesey, Wales
In early June the now legendary Gottwood Festival will celebrate its 8th year of escapist hedonism on the beautiful island of Anglesey in North West Wales. The full line up is now announced in its entirety and with over 250 artists performing across the course of the weekender we challenged ourselves with the arduous task of picking out our five must-catch acts.
What can we say? It’s the queen of electro Helena Hauff. Her set at Festival Forte last summer is the stuff of legend and her uncompromising blend of breakneck speed futuristic electro & sci-fi laced techno is the perfect match for a dark night deep in the woods.
On his day Levon Vincent is one of the finest DJ’s around. Effortlessly gliding through thumping techno and classy deep house his unassuming DJ style & bold track selection can keep your jaw dropped for hours on end. If able to secure a viewpoint of his mixer and finger trickery then any DJ, aspiring or established, will likely learn a trick or two.
The legend, the innovator, the oddball, the man himself Mr Matthew Herbert. Drawing influences from all across the board and using found sounds sampled from the most obscure sources such as the naked body, household objects and even farmyard animals his productions are always guaranteed to push boundaries. Since he only makes a handful of UK DJ appearances each year Gottwood is the ideal opportunity to see the man in action behind the decks.
Famed worldwide for his all night DJ sets ranging from ambient and leftfield to acid laced house & techno Roman Flügel has been keeping ravers dancing for a quarter of a century. Just as relevant today, if not more, as in his native Germany in the 90’s even if he only play for 2 or 3 hours he should be more than capable of taking you on a musical journey not to forget.
With any luck Anglesey will be blessed with beautiful sunshine for the duration of Gottwood Festival. If that is indeed the case then the sun kissed emotive tunes of Amsterdam’s Young Marco, flirting across genres from disco and jazz to house and synth pop, will make the perfect soundtrack to a summer afternoon by the lake.
Gottwood Festival 2017 hidden in the depths of a Welsh forest takes place from Thursday 8th June – Monday 12th June in Anglesey and a limited amount of full weekend tickets are still available. You can find full information on the line up, location and tickets here http://www.gottwood.co.uk/
