We welcome a true Sub:terranea favourite in Christian Maiden for our 23rd podcast.

We’ve been big fans of Christian Maiden’s sound for a long time now and we’re delighted to have him on board with the series. If you experienced his DJ set down in the basement when he played at our opening party back in June then you’ll already know he’s a top class DJ, if you didn’t then you’ll soon find out. Either way you’re in for a real treat with Sub:terranea 23.

Christian takes us on a deep and hypnotic journey through house and techno of the finest order just the way we like it!

The culmination of being exposed to an eclectic range of musical genres from an early age came in the form of Christian Maiden taking to the decks at the age of 19. After playing at bars and house parties in his home town of Birmingham he realized he wished to carve out a musical path in house and techno. In 2003 he moved to Leeds and was thus exposed to the underground sounds at such nights as Technique and Back2Basics. This formed the catalyst for him to start up his own night, Twaddle which provided Christian with an initial platform to showcase his impressive technical ability and his creative take on deep through to tech house. The night has seen him play alongside Audio Werner, Daniel Bell, Guillaume and The Cotu Dumonts, Matt Tolfrey, Lauhaus, Ekkohaus, Martinez and Mathew Styles to name a few.
Twaddle became the springboard that resulted in him being asked to take up residency at Mind the Gap and Soapbox in 2007. In addition he has caught the attention of many other nights in Leeds particularly Asylum, Back2Basics, Mono_cult, Dirty Disco and Birmingham’s Below where he has played most recently at their 2009 Christmas event.
Christian’s appeal and increased profile is also reflected in the range of places he has played at over the last few summers ranging from the Like Minded festival in Croatia and rooftop parties at Sonar to intimate local festivals such as Cloud 9. This summer has also seen him began to establish himself in London with gigs at T/bar and Roadtrip.
He has also held a residency at one of the biggest nights in the UK, Technique. This has seen him play with a plethora of high profile artists including, Nic Fanculli, Charles Webster, Anja Schneider, Clive Henry, Karotte, Italoboyz, Thomas Melchoir, Christian Burkhardt, Magda and Raresh. Most recently Christian has warmed up for Marco Carola, Seuil, The Revenge, Carl Craig and Miss Fitz. His knowledge and experience in the field has also lead him to becoming the label manager for Leftroom Records.
