Local hero Sputnik is on board with the Sub:terranea series just in time for our 30th Podcast.

Primarily a techno DJ best known for his sets at Future Past and before that Detatched in Leeds; Sputnik has recorded a lighter Detroit leaning set for Sub:terranea. Influenced by the weather perhaps? We think so.

So crack the beers open, get the bbq on the go and turn it up.

More about Sputnik
The arrival on UK shores of Chicago House and then Detroit Techno back in the late 1980s was the start of a love affair with the house and techno scenes, along with electro, that endures just as strongly today for Sputnik, known to his friends as Barry (amongst other things!). Years spent being the obligatory ‘Bedroom DJ’ along with regular visits to the techno mecca ‘The Orbit’ and other nights, mainly Leeds based, such as ‘Superconductor’, ‘Darkside’ & ‘Detatched’, culminated with a DJ spot at Detatched in 2009 playing a mainly electro/italo-house set in the bar. What followed then was a monthly resident spot at Detatched followed by Future-Past and the short-lived Secret Maze, supporting some of the cream of the techno scene including warm-up slots for Claude Young, James Ruskin, Marcel Fengler, Shed, Peter van Hoesen, Joey Beltram, Octave One, Truss/MPIA3, Detroit Techno Militia, Forward Strategy Group, 65d Mavericks, Subjected and Xhin amongst others. That was supplemented by appearing on the same bill as many other DJs and artists including Hardfloor, CJ Bolland, Woody McBride, Alan Oldham, Rolando, Derrick May, DJ Bone, Reeko, Exium, Sandwell District, Grovskopa, Ancient Methods, Inigo Kennedy, Bas Mooy, Damon Wild, Takaaki Itoh, Go Hiyama and Neil Landstrumm.
